Richard is a painter, sonic artist, and educator. His Educational Doctorate explored the impact on participants who co-created a series of improvised sonic artworks for a project called Sonic Camouflage.

Richard studied at Chelsea School of Art for his MA in Fine Art and at Cardiff School of Art for his BA Fine Art. Richard is the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Arts University Bournemouth and co-ordinates a series of educational Global Networks projects.

Richard has exhibited and curated widely, including contemporary art events for the ICA London. He initiated a contemporary art project space above the infamous Blue Note night club in Hoxton Square, London, in the late 1990’s, this multifaceted and experimental experience has influenced his educational pedagogy.

An Arts Council England project saw Richard collaborate with the artist Sian Hutchings to re-envision an Anthony Caro sculpture as a live sonic performance.
